Preparing for ACE Certification and Deployment with CrimsonLogic US SEW Solution

The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) started the mandatory use of the Automated Commercial Environment or ACE certification for electronic manifest filings on May 1, 2015. On November 1, 2015, CBP will use ACE as the official recording system for electronic cargo release and related entry summary filings. This means that carriers will be required to submit electronic entries and summary entries to ACE directly starting November 1.

Since May 20, 2015, many trade filers have already started testing their internal e-filing capabilities through the ACE Certification environment. It’s important to test new and existing entry and entry summary filing systems as early as possible to ensure that transmissions of all entry types are successful before the ACE deployment becomes mandatory in November.

Key Dates

May 1, 2015: All electronic export/import manifest data must be sent to CPB via ACE.

May 20, 2015: Testing of entry and entry summary filing capabilities via the ACE Certification environment.

November 1, 2015: ACE will be mandatory for cargo release and partner government agency actions.

October 1, 2016: ACE will be mandatory for all other cargo-related transactions.

It is recommended that carriers take advantage of the testing period to ease their systems into a fully paperless environment. Besides smooth filing of entry and entry summary data, your system should also support secure archiving and backup capabilities. If your business is struggling to comply with the new customs regulations because of legacy systems or other reasons, or you would like an advanced platform for eManifest and entry/summary entry filing, CrimsonLogic offers the U.S.  SEW (Single Electronic Window) solution.

The US SEW platform is designed to revolutionize communication between carriers/brokers, participating government agencies (PGAs) and U.S. customs. Two unique features of the new platform are the Document Image System (DIS) and support for AES (Automated Export System). DIS allows documents that cannot be digitized to be sent to PGAs, while the AES functionality allows users to manage all import and export related tasks from a single portal. If you would like to participate in the beta launch of the U.S. SEW solution (Single Electronic Window), contact a CrimsonLogic sales representative for assistance.
